FreightLink Works to Re-Open Line
05 Mar 2007
FreightLink, the operator of the Adelaide to Darwin railway, has begun work to re-open the rail line damaged by flood waters around 130 kilometres south of Darwin.
A floodwater surge, caused by torrential rainfall in the Adelaide River area on Saturday, closed the track and the Stuart Highway.
The flood waters in the area have dropped significantly in the past 24 hours allowing maintenance crews to commence work on site to repair the track.
The line is expected to reopen later this week.
Meanwhile FreightLink has established a rail to road transfer operation at the Katherine rail terminal allowing its regular Adelaide to Darwin freight service to continue as normal.
